The recent exhibition at The Courtauld in London was a real treat. A room full of Derains' London Paintings. They get stronger the further away you are from them. Marvellous!

Born in Louisiana and raised on the Texas side. Alison and I saw him play in Hong Kong. Unforgettable! RIP.

One truly believes the space they sit in. Look under the chairs. Its clearly a painting, but you believe in it completely. His mother was happy to pose looking at him, but his dad needing somthing to read. He paints like Alan Bennett writes, with honesty and insight.
